University tele-informatic centre (UTIC) is a central department of University of Sarajevo for implementation and development of ICT based systems and resources. Through the UTIC's main server centre a total of 26 faculties and institutions of the University are joined and linked into a single computer and communication network infrastructure. UTIC is making efforts to effectivly apply information technologies to the community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the Centre is to establish and develop academic and research university network for the University of Sarajevo (and other university centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina), along with it's information sistems and applications, as well as to provide Bosnia and Herzegovina access to the Internet and its services.
- University tele-informatic centre is the first Internet Service Provider in Bosnia and Herzegovina and with its founding Bosnia and Herzegovina is connected to the World Wide Web.
- In May 1996, the Bosnia and Herzegovina government appointed University tele-informatic centre for Bosnia and Herzegovina Internet domain administrator (.BA code) and UTIC became the only authorised administrator for .ba name domain.
- In international associations for registration of country code domains (RIPE and ICANN), UTIC is registered as the administrator of .ba name domain. This is very important fact because all users are connected to the Internet through the country code administrator. Through UTIC, all users of .ba code domain, like Internet service providers (BIHNET, HP, BLICNET and others), commercial, educational, nongovernmental and governmental organisations have access to the Internet.
